The French novelist Georges-Jean Arnaud died at the age of 91 years, according to his publisher. “He died on Sunday. It is a great loss to the popular literature in French, not only for science fiction but also for its police officers, its spy novels and great novels,” says Nathalie Carpentier, founder and director of the editions of French Pulp.

Born in July 1928, G. J. Arnaud has published hundreds of books in more than a dozen pseudonyms (Saint-Gilles, Gil Darcy, Frederick Mado, Gino Arnoldi, Ugo Solenza…). Published under the name of Saint-Gilles (the name of his native village in the Gard), his first novel, Do not pull on the inspector, gets the prize of the Quai des Orfèvres in 1952.
