Asia Cup 2023 India vs Nepal: One of the most popular cricket tournaments, Asia Cup 2023 is being held in Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Six teams are participating in the Asia Cup, India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
The tournament serves as a precursor to the much-awaited ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and fans are immensely excited to watch renowned cricketers like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Babar Azam in action.
India played their first match against arch-rivals Pakistan on 1 September, and after a poor innings by India, the match was abandoned due to heavy rain. Disappointing overall, given how enthusiastic the fans were about the game. Both teams were awarded 1 point, and the match was declared a draw.

Asia Cup 2023: How can India qualify for Super Four if India-Nepal tie due to rain?
- Only six teams will play in the 2023 Asia Cup, and only 13 matches will be played in total. India currently have just 1 point after their first match against Pakistan was abandoned due to rain.
- If the same were to happen with the India vs Nepal match, it would be a big shock for the fans and a big disappointment for the cricket community in general.
- India need to qualify for the Super 4 to progress further in the Asia Cup.
- Pakistan have already qualified for the Super Four stage.
- In case of a complete washout, Nepal and India will get 1 point each.
- Since Nepal lost to Pakistan earlier and have zero points, they will be eliminated from the tournament while India will advance to the Super 4 with 2 points.
- Overall, the draw is in favor of India. However, from a cricketing point of view, it may not be the best for team morale. The 2023 Asia Cup is considered as a training session for the ICC World Cup and everyone wants to see what the players are capable of. A dominant performance in the Asia Cup will only fuel the fans’ excitement and boost the confidence of Team India.
- From now on, India opted to bowl first and restricted Nepal to 178/6 in 37.5 overs before rain halted play. It remains to be seen if the two teams will play full innings or if the match will be shortened.
- Both teams must play at least 20 overs to decide the winner. In case of delay, Neopa’s score will be added and India will have to chase it in 20 overs.
