Barry loves a chaotic schedule. From the first year Barry created Flashpoint, the timeline and Barry’s interventions have been brought up time and time again. The disappearance of Rathaway, Vandal Savage, Savitar, and Nora all allowed Barry to change the timeline in some way.

One of Barry’s character traits is that he sometimes makes decisions with his heart instead of his head. This is obviously one of the hardest parts of being a hero, being able to balance logical decisions with more difficult choices involving people you love.

While the show looks like Barry makes the right decision every time and saves everyone with his heart, it always leads to another catastrophic event for Barry. As much as Barry wanted to believe he was The Flash, Alice was there to remind him that they were The Flash. Barry repeatedly refers to Iris as his lightning rod. Arguably, Barry’s need for Alice’s motivation does give her some entitlement to claim that without her, Barry might not be as much of a hero as he was when she was by his side.
