EaseMyTrip co-founder shares pic of his Lamborghini, pens ‘this isn’t a story of fancy car’

EaseMyTrip co-founder Rikant Pitti took to LinkedIn to share an announcement about the purchase of his “dream car”, a Lamborghini Urus Performante. He shared that he wanted to own a Lamborghini for the past 19 years. He also added that his announcement about buying a luxury car was not to “brag” but to “inspire” others.

“When I was 16, my brothers and I started a small tourism company, driven by a big dream. When I was 20 years old, with only $50,000, we transformed and created EaseMyTrip.com. We have worked hard to understand what travelers need and try to change the travel scene with the best technology and services. I am happy to say that EaseMyTrip is India’s second largest and most successful online travel company. This success is thanks to our incredible team, our never-give-up attitude and the way we faced challenges and overcame them,” Pitti wrote on LinkedIn.

In the next few lines, he added that he could have bought the car as early as 2021. However, due to the ongoing pandemic, he decided to use the fund to donate “oxygen concentrators to many NGOs and hospitals.”

“Just yesterday I got my dream car, a Lamborghini Urus Performante. It is the first in India and shines in a special green color called verde viper,” he said after receiving the car.

He also clarified that his post was not about showing off his luxury car. Pitti wrote that he wanted to show that “if you work hard and keep going, you can achieve your greatest goals. Every challenge and victory is part of your life story.”

“To everyone with a dream, keep going. Difficult times help you grow and reach your goals. Stay strong, stay hopeful and soon you will be living your dream,” he added some words of inspiration to conclude his segment. He also posted a picture of his new car.

What did LinkedIn users say about this EaseMyTrip co-founder stock?

“Congratulations,” wrote a LinkedIn user. “It is always encouraging to hear stories about entrepreneurs who rose to success. And yet, the pandemic has undoubtedly set many businesses back, especially those with limited financial safety nets, forcing them to close their doors. Some returned to their hometowns, while others, driven by passion, took jobs to survive, waiting for the right moment or platform to return. I look forward to celebrating the stories of the return of these resilient souls,” added another. “Fantastic,” joined the third.

A few weren’t particularly happy with the sharing and expressed as much in the comments section of the post. Just like this person who wrote: “Dear Rikant. Although you mentioned that the post is not intended to show off, the repeated mention of luxury vehicles undermines that. You claim to inspire others through your posts, but the primary focus has been on your accomplishments and possessions. At one point you mentioned that you were waiting to buy a car thanks to your oxygen cylinder donations during COVID-19. Soon after, focus on achieving your dream luxury car; the juxtaposition is quite hypocritical. There’s a fine line between inspirational and self-congratulatory.” Another person responded to this comment and added: “I agree with that!”
