An old video of an elephant from a zoo in China and its adorable gestures towards a baby has melted the hearts of many on social media. The video shows the actions of an elephant after a baby accidentally drops a shoe in the jumbus enclosure.

The video was shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by IFS Susanta Nanda. The clip opens to show the shoe inside the elephant’s enclosure. The elephant lifts the shoe with its trunk and reaches out to the child to give it back. Then the jumbo rests its trunk on the edge of the fence, as if looking for pets. Captioning the post, IFS Susanta Nanda wrote, “He is imprisoned. But not his spirit and compassion. He returns the shoe of a child who accidentally fell into the enclosure. (Free the wild from the cage).”

Earlier, another touching video recorded how the elephant was not ready to leave its caretaker. The video was shared on X by Indian Railway Accounts Service (IRAS) officer Ananth Rupanagudi. The video opens to show the elephant trying to stop the caretaker from leaving. The gentle giant wraps his trunk around the man to prevent him from leaving.
