Kenzie was adopted by Cameron and Kaitlynn Cuevas two years ago when she was just six weeks old. Since then, she has become an additional member of their family. The incident occurred when the Cuevases left Kenzie in the care of Cameron’s mom. The monkey managed to escape from the house and disappeared into the forest, reports WLOX.

Following this incident, the couple shared a post on Facebook, asking people to help them find their beloved pet.

“Worst post to make but our girl Kenzie ran away this morning around 10:00 from Menge on Lobouy Rd. If everyone in the area can watch out. We searched far and wide and we are not giving up. Ben was here with his dogs with us. Last time she was wearing a gray diaper cover,” Cameron Kaitlynn Cuevas wrote on Facebook as she shared several pictures and a video of the pet monkey.

Soon many people reached out for help. Among them was Ben Ward, a local hunter who uses dogs to track wounded and missing animals. “I loaded up and went there. A whole bunch of people were already there looking. We joined them and brought the dogs into the forest. They are amazing. Their ability is incredible. Their nose, from what I’ve read, is 10,000 times better than a human’s,” Ward told WLOX.

After 14 hours of extensive searching, the volunteers took a break. Meanwhile, Ward returned to the woods, hoping his dogs had picked up the trail. And he was right. Kenzie has been found.

Cuevas later shared the news that Kenzie had been found. The Facebook post reads: “KENZIE HAS ARRIVED HOME! She took a good bath, dried with a hair dryer and took a good nap. He will go here to the vet soon for a check-up. It was a long 24 hours of searching the kilometers-long forest! Prayer, crying, kilometers and kilometers of walking! If you know us, you know that Kenzie is like a baby to us, a human child! She is tired, scared, weak, but she is at home!” Cuebas also tagged several people and thanked them for their help and support.

Both posts received numerous reactions from Facebook users. Many even flocked to the comments section of the posts to share their thoughts.

Another added: “So happy for you all. You were all on my mind all night. Thank God, he is safe at home.”

A fourth commented: “So glad she made it home! My eyes were opened this morning on my way to work! We hope she learned her lesson about wandering!”
