Royally funny!
The band’s frontman, 52, recalled how the Duke of Sussex, 36, visited him after injuring his leg while on tour with the Foo Fighters in Europe in 2015, noting how Harry was “cold”.
“He brought me this thing to hold my iPad so I could watch movies and s–t. It was awesome. “He punched Taylor in the face once.
For his part, Hawkins, 48, said: “It really pissed me off,” before explaining why and how it happened.
“He came in and said, ‘How are you?’ I said, ‘I can’t wake up. I’m so tired,” the drummer remembered. He said, ‘Are you awake now? ””
The artist included: “I mean, I got slapped in the face by a prince. That’s okay, really, when you think about it.”
Hawkins previously spoke about the slapping issue in a meeting with BBC News in 2017. He revealed that it happened before the Invictus Games in 2014. “I kind of thought, ‘What was that?’ It was amazing, it was funny. I wore that slap with pride,” he said at the time.
Prince Harry has a good relationship with the musical duo. When Grohl underwent surgery in London in 2015, the royal was one of the first visitors he received, he revealed to BBC News. “He’s the cutest. I owe you a note, Harry,” Grohl said at the time.
Grohl also said Harry came unaccompanied. During his visit, he learned that the Foo Fighters singer’s siblings are Violet (14), Harper (11) and Ophelia (6).
The Ohio native recalled: “It’s funny, our nanny was there and she came into the area with the kids and I said, ‘That’s Harry,’ and it took her five or six minutes to realize it was the Prince of England .”
Grohl hit his leg while jumping on stage at a show in Sweden. He finished the performance before telling the crowd: “I believe I’ve just broken my leg”
He continued, “I believe I actually broke my leg. So look, you have my promise, right now, that the Foo Fighters will come back and finish our show. But now… I’m going to the hospital and I’m going to fix my leg. But I’ll be back and we’ll play for you!”
Grohl continued his break from his broken leg by performing and playing guitar from a custom seat created for the stage.
