Strong earthquakes rocked Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Tuesday. The National Center for Seismology, in a first assessment, shared that the depth of the earthquake was 5 km. The earthquakes measured 6.2 on the Richter scale and lasted for more than 40 seconds.

“Earthquake Magnitude: 6.2 Occurred on 03-10-2023, 14:51:04 IST, Lat: 29.39 & Long: 81.23, Depth: 5 km, Location: Nepal,” read the share, which published by the National Center for Seismology at X.
Several people who felt the tremors took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask others if they too had felt the tremors. While some posted videos of various objects, especially fans and chandeliers, swaying violently, others shared footage of people gathered in the streets. A few reacted with memes highlighting the frequent occurrence of earthquakes in Delhi-NCR.

Delhi Police responded and shared an advisory informing people how to react in this situation. “Hey people of Delhi! We hope you are all safe. Please get out of your buildings to a safe place, but do not panic. DO NOT USE THE ELEVATOR! For any emergency call 112. #earthquake,” the department wrote on X.
