Jace Evans son Teenage mom star Jenelle Evans and his dad Andrew Lewis were high school sweethearts. But they met online, as Jace revealed in her 2017 memoir Read between the lines: from the diary of a teenage mother. They met in person after Janelle’s birthday.
The couple dated from 2007 to 2009, but Andrew called it quits after Jace was born in August 2009.
She then went on to say how she was “in love” with him without even considering their six-year age difference or his drinking habits.
“He drank, a lot,” Jenelle wrote in her book. “I mean, I like a beer now and then, but he stayed lost most of the time. At 16 I thought it was so cool. He drank more than he should have, and I thought that was so grown-up and fascinating.”
Along with Andrew’s drinking habits, Jenelle mentioned another significant flaw in their relationship: She “became a doormat for that guy.”
“He came and got what he wanted from me, when he wanted it, and I was waiting for him to tell me what to do,” the “Jenelle Evans Podcast” host added in her memoir. “We had to talk when he wanted to talk, regardless of the odd hours. We had to go out when he wanted to go out.” We did what he wanted.”
And Jenelle said that after he told Andrew about her pregnancy, he “smiled [her] happy.”
“However, I felt inside that he was not interested in the child,” she wrote. “That’s when I knew he wouldn’t stay around. And it didn’t.”
When Jenelle was pregnant with Jace, Andrew would only visit her a few times. “He was more interested in partying with his friends and getting drunk than spending time with his pregnant girlfriend,” Jenelle claims in her book. “Not to mention he was a broker and didn’t have a job. What the hell did I ever see in him?”
The relationship eventually hit a dead end when Andrew decided to move to China to model. Jenelle also said in her book that Andrew only saw their child sporadically after Jace was born and the couple separated.
“He never comes to see his son, but he still calls and says he wants to,” she wrote in her memoir. “That just never happens… He gave up custody and I don’t know if he’s ever going to be in his son’s life again.”
Later, Andrew tried to get back into Jace’s life. He was mentioned in the January 2019 episode of Teen Mom 2 for texting the executive producer to inquire about meeting Jace and Jenelle in New York. Additionally, in December 2020, reports surfaced that Jenelle was having extramarital affairs. She angrily denied the claims in a tweet that has since been deleted.
Jenelle appeared to insult her ex in a TikTok video a year later while singing Queen Key’s “Take Yo Man.” A fan comment under the video, which she later supported, called him the “weirdest” ex of all her exes.

“Nothing but lies. Like, ‘Oh yeah, definitely Andrew, you can definitely see your son. Please keep in touch.’ Fucking liars. So how can I feel? When they come on MTV and say this and that about me, like ‘He’ll never talk to us.’ You know what, I tried. That makes them look good, but not me. I’m here to clear my name because there’s a lot of shit that people judge me for, like I’m that jerk and that shitty guy. No I did not. It really bothers me. And that has been bothering me for years.”
Andrew told the US Sun: “Holy shit. My mother actually sent me the papers. I didn’t even know Jenelle got full custody of Jace. I didn’t know that. No one told me that…Come on dude, tell me! I am his father.”
Jace’s father was surprised to learn that Jenelle had full custody of his son for five years after Jace lived with his grandmother Barbara for a decade. “I was stunned. More than astonishment. And it’s shit.”
According to Andrew, Barbara was receiving child support from him until he recently received word that it had been terminated. However, according to him, he did not find out until last week that the payment was being transferred as a result of the change of custody. The single parent stated that he will have a hearing soon to discuss child support and that he fully intends to start paying Jenelle right now.
