How to access Ring video doorbells and cameras through a web browser

If you’ve just purchased a new Ring Video Doorbell or Ring Security Camera, you’ve no doubt already discovered that the Ring app is a wealth of information — and an easy-access portal to viewing your footage. The app’s ease of use and convenience can hide the fact that you have other options when it comes to viewing footage, including web browser access. Here’s how to do it.

How to access your Ring video doorbells and cameras through a web browser

We should start with a quick warning: if you don’t pay for Ringo’s monthly Protect cloud recording plan, you won’t be able to see past recordings. If you do this or use a trial plan, you’ll have access to all doorbell interactions and motion events in both the Ring app and on ring.com.

Videos in your account are automatically deleted depending on your plan, which you can check on Ringo’s website. And in case you’re wondering, waiting until you need the recordings and then paying for Ring Protect won’t give you access to the old recordings; plans are not available retroactively. Ringo’s plans start at around $3 a month, so you’re paying for peace of mind when you opt for one of these plans.

To access your recordings via a web browser, go to ring.com and search Apply button in the upper right corner. Sign in using the email address and password you created when you joined. Of course, there is an option to reset your password if you have forgotten your information in the meantime.

After signing in, if you see “Looks like you don’t have any devices set up”, just click My location in the top right corner select your home and you should now see all your cameras in Dashboard.

Select the camera you want to watch by clicking on the thumbnail or the small video box. You will be redirected to a page where you can view individual events (so-called Event history) along the left column and a larger viewing window on the right. By clicking on each event, you will be able to watch it in the viewing pane; here you can quickly and easily browse the recordings, and by viewing them on a large portable or desktop monitor, you will easily find what you need.

Just below the preview pane are four small buttons. You can use them to bookmark or flag your favorite videos, forward or share them on Facebook or Twitter, or download them directly to your computer. The last option is to delete the video using the trash can button.

How to bulk delete or download Ring videos

No one wants to spend days or weeks going through individual clips and trying to delete them. Fortunately, Ring has given you the option to quickly manage this tidying up.

To bulk delete or bulk download clips, look above the event list on the left where it says Event history. Choose Govern, and then check the boxes you want to enter or delete. You are done!

Why watch Ring videos in a web browser?

Why would you want to watch your videos in a web browser instead of just using the app on your phone? As noted above, if you’re reviewing a lot of clips and a lot of footage, viewing on a larger screen, on a device where you likely have a mouse or trackpad, speeds up this task. While Ringo’s app is extremely handy for quick updates and seeing postmen, if you have more to manage, the web browser makes it easier.
