Noida cop safely rescues 8-foot-long python that slithered into a truck. Watch

Police officers often face unusual situations during the performance of their duties. Devendar Rathi, a police officer from Noida, also faced a similar situation when he was called to rescue a snake that had crawled into a truck.

Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police have gone to X to share a video of a snake rescue. In the headline, they shared how Rathi and his team managed to save the snake.

“Unwinding the Unexpected Hitchhiker. The 8-foot python took an unconventional method of transportation and ended up in a truck. SI Police Devendar Rathi Noida along with his team skillfully used the rope and bag technique and safely rescued the python,” the department wrote.

The video opens to show a hissing snake. The clip then shows the python wrapped around the truck’s neck. As the video progresses, the officers manage to get the snake out of the vehicle.

After slipping out, the snake wrapped itself around a motorcycle parked nearby. The video then shows the police using a rope to rescue the snake and put it in a bag.

The post was shared on October 5. Since then, it has collected more than 22,000 views. People also shared various comments while reacting to the video.

What did Rathi say about this snake rescue?

Rathi told HT that he got the call about the snake while he was on patrol. “Without wasting time, I and my colleagues, who were patrolling along with me, rushed to the spot and found the 8-foot-long python which just then slipped into the cab of a passing truck,” he said.

“I decided to catch him before he escapes and poses a danger to nearby residents. With the help of a rope and a bag, our team managed to save the snake without injuring it,” Rathi added. It took the police officer and his team about two hours to rescue the reptile.

What happened to the snake?

Python was safely rescued by Rathi and his team. It was later handed over to the forest department and will eventually be released into the wild.
