He can be seen frantically trying to pull the dog – believed to be an XL Bully – off the five-year-old cat, before trying to tell her owner she is fine.
But to Nima Begum’s devastation, her family’s beloved Kiwi pet was dead just minutes later.
It comes after Rishi Sunak vowed to ban American bully XL dogs following a series of fatal and serious attacks by the breed.
The horrific attack happened at Nima’s Norwich garden in Norfolk last Saturday.
The mother of five said she was about to take her three-year-old son for ice cream when she heard shouting outside.
Looking out of her upstairs window, she saw a man struggling to reach a huge dog.
The hound’s mouth was covered in blood, and the owner started apologizing profusely, saying, “Your cat is fine.”
Tragically, Nima came downstairs to find her beloved Kiwi “torn to pieces”.
She said the family cat died moments later in her daughter’s arms.
The devastated mum recalled last weekend: “It all happened in seconds.
“I was completely terrified, and my cat was torn to pieces.
“I saw that dog on a leash every day for several months. A dog could have attacked my three-year-old boy.
“My biggest concern is not only my child, but also the school nearby. I’m afraid to take my boy to the kindergarten across the street.”
Kiwi got kittens a few months ago, and one of them named Peppercorn, who was kept by the family, managed to escape the attack of the hounds.
However, she said her children were still traumatized by the loss of their beloved pet.
Norfolk Police said they are investigating the vicious attack.
It comes just days after a man was killed by XL Bully.
Ian “Scouse” Langley, 54, was protecting his puppy when the animal pounced on him outside his home in Sunderland on Tuesday night.
He was rushed to the hospital with severe, life-threatening injuries, but unfortunately he could not be saved and died.
