clinical trials revealed that two vaccine projects showed promise in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

That’s a nice hope as the pandemic continues to rage across the planet. Scientific research is progressing to find a vaccine effective against the coronavirus or Covid-19. According to clinical trials, the two vaccine projects produce an “immune response” against the virus.

Two Covid-19 vaccine projects, a British one and a Chinese one, produced significant immune responses and demonstrated their safety for patients, according to the results of two separate clinical trials published Monday in the British medical journal The Lancet.

The first, developed by the University of Oxford in partnership with AstraZeneca, elicited a “strong immune response” in a trial of more than 1,000 patients, while the second, supported by CanSino Biologics, elicited a strong response in terms of antibodies in a second test of up to around 500 participants.

preliminary stage

These clinical trials are still in the preliminary phase (phase 1/2 and phase 2) and their efficacy must be established in phase 3 testing in a larger number of participants, more importantly, before considering their large-scale commercialization. These results were highly anticipated: many researchers and laboratories around the world entered into a race against time to find a safe and effective vaccine against Covid-19.

“If our vaccine is effective, it is a promising option because this type of vaccine can be easily produced in large quantities,” said Sarah Gilbert, a researcher at the University of Oxford. The Oxford and CanSino vaccines are based on a modified, non-replicating adenovirus, making them safer, especially for susceptible patients.
