Several contamination hotspots have appeared in the region in recent days. ARS points out “the lack of implementation of barriers with gestures”.
The virus is still circulating. And the situation in some regions leaves the fear of a renewal of the epidemic. This is the case in New Aquitaine, a region that was, however, heavily affected by the new coronavirus. The Regional Health Agency (ARS), New Aquitaine, in a statement published on Thursday, considers the development of the epidemic “disturbing”.
ARS now identifies 10 clusters, while its previous situation, last Friday, did not count those three. About 76 cases of Covid-19 have been identified in these 10 clusters. Several of which are related to private events (weddings, parties…). Here are the details of the clusters, according to the ARS press release.

“more and more clustered cases arising from these situations are recognized in New Aquitaine by the lack of implementation of barriers with gestures”, notes the ARS, adding that “the season of family gatherings and various festivities represent a context favorable for the continuation of the active circulation of the virus in New Aquitaine, the region, moreover, very touristic.”

During this holiday season, returns from trips abroad are also a concern of the ARS. He calls on the population of the region to “come together”, in better compliance with the gesture barriers. “The public must continue their efforts and institutions, businesses, structures, leisure or tourism, event organizers and communities must ensure that they apply the recommendations to the people who visit their place.”
Gironde “moderately vulnerable”
The situation is most serious in the Gironde department in “moderate vulnerability” according to the ARS. She described the “unfavorable evolution of health indicators in the Gironde (number of positive cases, new clusters, increase in SOS médecins activity, new Covid hospitalizations). This evolution is linked to the “reduction of protection measures taken by the population”.
