Pokémon Unite map overview

Before looking at specific maps, it’s important to understand the standard features you’ll see regardless of where your match takes place. Learning these basics is the key to winning the Pokémon Unite — even if you’re not sure how a particular map works, anyone who knows these areas can contribute to their team’s success.

  • Base: This is where you’ll start each match and where you’ll be sent to respawn if you get knocked out. Your base is on one side of the map and your opponent’s on the other.
  • Target Zones: Bring your Aeos energy to these locations to score points.
  • Wild Pokémon: Located at various points on the map, Wild Pokémon give you XP to level up and Aeos points to bring to target zones.
  • Berries: These items on the field are automatically used when picked up, giving various effects — such as increasing health or movement speed.
  • Tall Grass: Players can hide in tall grass to become invisible to enemy players. Use this to your advantage to ambush groups, but be careful not to let the same happen to you!

Remoat Island

Among the biggest cards in Pokémon Unite, Remoat Island gives you enough space to spread out and find a place for yourself. All the action will eventually converge in the center, where you’ll find the Legendary Pit — which spawns Zapdos when there are two minutes left in the game.

If you’d rather not mess with Zapdos, you can always drop down to the southern part of the map and fight the Drednaw on the beach. This is currently the standard map you’ll be playing in Ranked, so take the time to familiarize yourself with its spacious lanes, available berries, and various braking points.

  • Match size: 5v5
  • Type of match: ranked, standard
  • Goal zones: Five per team
  • Beach Area: Located at the southern tip of the map, the beach area is where you’ll find Drednaw — a powerful Pokémon that gives tons of Exp. Points and gives shields to your entire team when defeated.
  • Legendary Wild Pokémon: When two minutes remain on the timer, Zapdos will appear in the center of the map. If your team manages to take it down, you’ll get 20 points and enemy objective zones will be available to conquer.

Auroma Park

Currently limited to quick matches, Auroma Park is a smaller map made for short battles. You’ll find two target zones — neither of which are assigned to a team — and you’re free to use either to score points. You’ll also find some conveyor belts scattered around the map to speed up your travels. Understanding how to use them properly is the key to winning the round.

  • Match size: 3v3
  • Match Type: Quick Match
  • Goal zones: Two in total
  • Movement bars: jump on them to move around the map quickly. You can also try to push your opponents onto them to spoil their strategy.

City of Shivra

It’s a small field, but it will be packed with action during your 4v4 matches. This quick match map has one objective zone on either side, a few paths with wild Pokémon, and nothing else. The biggest twist is that knocking out enemy Pokémon will actually increase your scoring rate — making Shivre City a map where it’s often wise to ignore Wild Pokémon and go straight for your enemies.

According to the developer, this map will constantly “fight the enemy for map control and points.” With nowhere to run, it’s hard to avoid the four enemy Pokémon roaming the cold streets of Shivre City.

  • Match size: 4v4
  • Match Type: Quick Match
  • Goal zones: One per team
  • Wild Pokémon: Defeat Avalugg in the center of the map to create a barrier around your team’s target zone.

Stadium Mer

Mer Stadium is practically the same as Remoat Island, except that it is built for 4v4 matches. It’s a fairly easy battlefield, without many twists to worry about. Just plug straight ahead through your lane and coordinate with your team to rack up points.

  • Match size: 4v4
  • Match Type: Quick Match
  • Goal zones: Three per team
  • Legendary Wild Pokémon: It’s no surprise, but Zapdos is the legendary Pokémon you’ll be facing. Defend them to earn extra points and reduce the defense of your opponent’s target zones.
