An extension of 38 million euros was proposed on Thursday to interns and medical students, bringing the total amount to almost 200 million in an envelope intended to improve their incomes. According to Intersyndicale interne medicine (Isna), 33 million euros have been put on the table for internal medicine alone, which will now be a global envelope of 124 million euros. According to the Ministry of Health, this amount will be used to increase the allowances paid to interns.

at the same time, an increase of five million was proposed for medical students, making it 55 million euros, which is intended for this purpose. The envelope for the sector of paramedical students remains unchanged and amounts to 20 million euros. High expectations of working conditions

The president of Isna, Justin Breysse, said that he was satisfied with the delivered envelope. “Money is not the main thing”, he pointed out, however, recalling that the trainees had “high expectations” from “working conditions and training”. According to the ministry, measures are planned, in parallel with the promised salary, to enable “greater respect for working hours”.

The announcements come as Isni filed a notice of intent to strike on Thursday to improve working conditions. In this context, about thirty trainees in white coats paraded in front of the ministry’s staircase, around the sign “Internally dedicated, but not taken into account”.
