Closure of schools in Noida
Noida school closure update: The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has ordered the immediate closure of 14 schools, following allegations that they were operating without official recognition. Most of these schools, with students enrolled up to class 12, are located in the villages around Noida.
The Uttar Pradesh government conducted a survey of schools to find out whether any institutes were working in contravention of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. According to the law, it is mandatory for all entities involved in imparting formal education to be recognized by state bodies.
14 schools face consequences for violating the law
District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) Dharmveer Singh said, “During an investigation in the district, 14 such schools were found to be violating the law and today they were ordered to stop functioning with immediate effect. It was found to be conducting classes illegally and without any recognition from the authorities.” He also added, “There were serious lapses in one school and I have issued instructions to my department to ensure that the police file an FIR against it and legal action is taken against it.”
Strict action taken against law-breaking schools
According to the department, seven of these schools are located in Harola, four in Jalpura and one each in Shahdara, Mangrauli and Chhijarsi. The officer warned of strict measures against educational institutions that work in violation of the laws. These schools have an average of about 150 enrolled students.
Gautam Buddh Nagar district, which encompasses Noida and Greater Noida, has more than 2,000 accredited schools, including those affiliated to CBSE, ICSE and Uttar Pradesh boards.
