Indian Army installs first ever mobile tower at Siachen Glacier

The mobile tower was first installed on the Siachen Glacier, the highest battlefield in the world. Fire and Fury Corps of Indian Army shared this news on X. This tower has been installed by Indian Army in collaboration with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). Minister Devusinh Chauhan and industrialist Anand Mahindra also went to X to praise the significant progress.

“#Siachen Warriors in collaboration with BSNL established the first BSNL BTS at the forward positions of the highest battlefield on October 6 to extend mobile communication for soldiers deployed at over 15,500 feet,” the Fire and Fury Corps official wrote. Union Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan also took to X to share information about this amazing development. He wrote, “BSNL with Siachen Warriors installs first ever mobile tower at Siachen Glacier. Now our heroes can talk to their near and dear ones at their convenience. Kudos to @BSNLCorporate and #SiachenWarriors.”

Anand Mahindra also shared how this “seemingly small event in our turbulent world” is actually “big news”. He wrote, “These are the photos shared by @devusinh of the first mobile tower installed in Siachen! A seemingly small event in our turbulent world. But it means that our Jawans who risked their lives every day on the highest battlefield in the world to defend us are now strongly bonded with their families. For them, this device is as important as the Vikram Lander. This is really BIG news for me.”

The Fire and Fury Corps post was shared on October 12th. Since it was published, it has garnered more than 11,000 views and several likes. Many took to the comments section of the post to share their reactions.
