“Survivor 45” contestant Jake O’Kane has always wanted to play this game, but now he’s finally ready thanks to his recent efforts to improve himself. The Massachusetts-born lawyer proudly displays his “infamous Irish whisper” and other characteristics.
In Jake’s mind, he lives in many different places around the world. He’s a lawyer who “also works as a bartender and teaches theater to young people.” He claims that he is “burying himself [himself] not quite in one world.” In fact, the fact that he is a lawyer who lives with his 85-year-old grandmother amazes people. He admits that he “goofs around a bit”. She had seen the program before and was familiar with the idea, but complained to Jake that they were “so mean to each other”.
Jake compares himself to “Vanuatu” champion Chris Daugherty in terms of former players since he “had such a goofy way” and Jake believes that “you can be honest, but you can also, you know, still be a schmuck.” The speaker continues: “If you’re not kidding, you’re not playing.” “Really taking care” of himself, Jake “healed up” to be game ready and able to play the way he wants. To play this game, he believes he’s “at his best [his] life.”
Speaking about one life experience that prepared him, he said: “I feel that studying for the bar exam prepared me Survived. It takes a lot of dedication, self-control and enduring some difficult days, but if you respect it, you can meet the challenge.”
Jake appreciates “an alliance partner who can cover my weakness and bond with the people who keep me at arm’s length. I need their trust and to believe what I’m saying whether it’s true or not.”
He believes that he will be the only survivor because “no one wants it more than me and no one will work harder than me to achieve it. I am a person with the intelligence to use my social skills to navigate the game.”

Jake O’Kane is a newly minted attorney and New England law graduate.
He graduated in May 2022 and announced: “3 years ago, on April Fool’s Day, I was accepted to law school for the first time. I was walking across the stage the other day and some guy handed me this piece of paper that had my name and Juris Doctor written on it. No one said April Fools so at this point I’m assuming it’s legit. It’s hard for me to imagine how I got to this point, but I know I couldn’t have done it without my family and friends and all the support they’ve given me. I tell them, my name is on this diploma, but this is ours. When you need help, I’ll be there.
Jake went to college at Westfield State University. While at WSU, he worked for Angels Take Flight, an organization that supports foster children. In 2018, he also ran for WSU’s Class of 2019 president.

Courtney and I started dating in the spring of 2019, the year we graduated from undergrad. During law school, I missed our anniversary celebration because I was busy with final exams every year. I told Court I was going to make our four year anniversary special and it was, but not in the way any of us expected.”
Jake concluded, “We were separated by 8,000 miles. Survivor takes a toll on your whole being and I’m so lucky to have such a wonderful partner to lean on Court. On Valentine’s Day 2023, Jake wished his girlfriend: “Happy Valentine’s Day baby ❤️ You are the light in this world that I am lucky enough to shine on me every day. To those still reading, I have the best girlfriend #arguemeonit.”
Later in March 2023, Jake celebrated Courtney’s 27th birthday.
Since her girlfriend is full of support, Courtney also shared interesting facts about her boyfriend. In September 2023, she wrote: “On our first date almost 5 years ago, Jake told me his biggest and wildest dream was to be on Survivor. He talked about his love for the show and the game and showed me almost 50 buffs from previous seasons in his apartment. Fast forward to 2023 and I have the honor of watching you live that biggest and craziest dream. To say I’m proud would be an understatement. I am so inspired by your strength and perseverance and can’t wait for America to see how easy it is to love you ❤️”
