Meet Julie Alley, a single mom from Tennessee competing on Survivor 45. Her life has been pretty inspiring based on what she’s been able to accomplish, and when she needed a hero, she got one.

Julie Alley on Survivor 45
Julie Alley watched Survivor for the first time in 2015. She was hooked and her desire to be on the show took over.
She added: “Because all those survivors were given a second chance. And it was like my second chance at life. I just said, “I’m starting over. Look at them getting another chance. This is my chance.” And I’ve been kind of obsessed ever since. My kids are grown. My son is a senior in college. My daughter is getting her master’s degree in counseling right now. So they left. I graduated from law school. I said, “Let’s do it.” So , as soon as I got out of law school, I started applying. Because I said, “I don’t need me. Let’s do it.”
Julie identifies with Survivor alum Cirie. Although she was not the winner, Julie became a great inspiration. The past winner she identifies with is Sandra. Admiring her, Emily said: “I mean, she’s just powerful, but I can’t help it. She is the queen Survived. And I just adore her. I mean, she played differently. She played not to lose. But she did it.”
Julie believes her willingness to adapt will serve her well in overcoming challenges on the show. She feels that all her life experiences have prepared her for the show. Her strategy for building alliances is to stick close to strong players regardless of their personality.
The Tennessean adds, “I want to be like, ‘I’ve got your back,’ if you’re a strong player. But that doesn’t necessarily mean strength. We need smart puzzle people. And that’s why I’ve tried really hard not to be the weak link. I mean, I’m not going to compete with 20-year-olds on my best day. [Laughs.] I have no illusions about that. I just don’t want to be seen as the weakest link. So a good alliance would be a strong player.”
Also, she values ”Truth, Hard Work, Loyalty and Strength” in her alliances.
Julie Alley Job
Julie Alley works as a lawyer and has four years of experience. However, he is currently in the process of transitioning from one company to another. Since September 2023, she has been working as a trust and wealth advisor at Pinnacle Financial Partners.
Prior to that, she worked at Legacy Law Group, PLLC from May 2023 to September 2023 as an associate attorney. She also served as an associate attorney at Hooper Zinn & McNamee, PLLC.
Before entering law school at age 40 and earning her law degree, she worked as a muralist/artist trying to figure things out as a single mom.
Julie said: “Before I even started my law course, I didn’t know how to be a stay-at-home mum and pay the bills. I started being a muralist. I’m not that good at art. But if I could see it, I could paint it. So I started a whole mural company. Then it hit in 2008. At that time I was mostly doing churches. But let me be honest with you: people tithe last, not first. So the church affairs are gone. Then I said, “Okay, I’ll hold the class outside my house.” I did it; I needed more money, so I became a nanny and took four more children for four years. So I feel like I’ve been surviving all my life, which I think is why I like the game. That’s a challenge. It’s an adaptation.”
Julie went to Samford University where she studied Spanish. She earned her JD from Nashville School of Law.

Julie Alley’s family
Julie Alley is one of three children of Dr. Allen Kaiser and Joan Kaiser. Her father is a professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and consultant physician to the chief of clinical staff at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Dr. Kaiser’s responsibilities at VUMC also included the first Chief of Staff of the Vanderbilt Health System, Interim Chair of the Department of Medicine, Vice President for Clinical Affairs for the Department of Medicine, and Chief of Staff for Vanderbilt University Hospital.
dr. Kaiser, an expert in the epidemiology and prevention of nosocomial infections, joined the Vanderbilt faculty in 1972 as an instructor of medicine and chief of infectious diseases for the newly established clinical training program at Saint Thomas Hospital, where he also served as a hospital epidemiologist. In 1981, he became chair of the Department of Medicine at Saint Thomas.
Later. In 1988, he accepted the position of the newly established head of the Department of Medicine at VUMC. In 1991, he was promoted to the position of professor of medicine. He is a past president of the Society for Health Epidemiology of America. He is past president of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America and is the author of 17 book chapters and more than 70 peer-reviewed publications.
Julie’s mom, Joan, is a research nurse in the Department of General Surgery at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. The Kaiser family’s connection to Vanderbilt runs deep as Joan received her master’s degree in counseling from Vanderbilt.
As of September 2023, Julien’s father is 81 years old and her mother is 78 years old.
Joan has two brothers Clayton Kaiser who is 43 years old and Daniel Kaiser who is 42 years old and both are doctors.
dr. Clayton is a thoracic surgeon in Nashville, Tennessee, and is affiliated with Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital. He received his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and has been practicing for between 11 and 20 years.
dr. Daniel is a cardiologist in Gallatin, Tennessee, and is affiliated with multiple hospitals in the area, including Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital and Ascension St. Thomas Highlands. He received his medical degree from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and has been practicing for between 11 and 20 years.

Julie Alley is now single and divorced her husband Christopher Alley Sr. when she was 39 years old. Her 50-year-old ex-husband appears to have worked as a lead assessment specialist at Vanderbilt University Medical Center since October 2011.
Julie is a mother of two children; a daughter named Taylor Alley and a son named Christopher Alley Jr. Christopher Jr. he turned 22 in June 2023. In 2020, she wished her son: “Happy 19th birthday to my high school graduate in 2020! Vandy tied! I’m a proud mom!”
Taylor graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2022. She attended Lipscomb University for her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has been working as a mentor at Lipscomb IDEAL since August 2023.
Christopher also attends Vanderbilt University and is expected to graduate in 2024.
Speaking to EW about what she’s most proud of, Julie said, “I’m extremely proud of my two children, who are now amazing young adults. But I don’t think I can take credit for them; they are God’s gifts to me.”
