If you want a cheap but reliable smartphone, it’s a safe bet to get the older Google Pixel model. The Google Pixel 3a was launched in 2019, so it’s only four years old. Many of us currently have older phones in our pockets. It still has the important aspects of a modern smartphone. It can get 4G and LTE. It has a pretty nice camera with a special night vision mode for low light photography and HDR+. It has a 5.6-inch screen with a super high contrast ratio. For the price, it’s a great smartphone.

The relatively affordable Google Pixel 6a gets even cheaper and at this price is an absolute steal. The mid-range smartphone offers top performance with the Google Tensor chipset also found in the Google Pixel 6 (see below) and 6GB of RAM, inside a compact and lightweight design. The device has a 6.1-inch OLED screen with Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 60Hz, and an additional layer of security with the Titan M2 chip that makes it more resistant to all types of attacks. For photography enthusiasts and selfie lovers, the Google Pixel 6a is equipped with a 12.2 MP camera with optical image stabilization and a 12 MP ultra-wide camera at the back, and an 8 MP camera at the front.
Google Pixel Watch — $352, was $400

If you already have a Pixel smartphone or Pixel headphones, getting a Google Pixel Watch is a no-brainer. It pairs perfectly with other Google devices. You can do cool things like add Google Wallet to your watch and just touch your wrist to card readers to pay. This model has the same health tracking software as Fitbit, so you know you’ll get top-notch data on heart rate, activity, calories burned and more. It uses scratch-resistant Coring Gorilla glass, so you don’t have to be extra careful with it. It will even survive up to 5ATM, or about 160 feet underwater. Most of us won’t need it, but it helps if you don’t have to take the watch off to wash your hands.
Google Pixel 6 — $390, was $599

The Google Pixel 6 is a lighter version of the Google Pixel 6 Pro that ditches a few of the Pro’s premium qualities, but mostly keeps the fantastic camera. Our Google Pixel 6 review highlighted just how important it is not ignore this phone compared to the ‘Pro’ version. The hardware is still fantastic, with a display that has a 90Hz refresh rate at 1080p. As for the shape, it holds nicely and lies comfortably in the hand. Still, there’s no doubt that most people will find the most value in the Pixel 6 in its camera. It has the same 50MP main camera and 12MP wide-angle camera as the Pixel 6 Pro, but uses 7x digital zoom instead of physical.
Google Pixel 7a — $444, was $499

The Google Pixel 7a is a lighter version of the Google Pixel 7 (scroll down), but it does its job well on its own in many areas. For example, despite having smaller sensors, the Google Pixel 7a actually has a technically better camera (64MP main and 13MP ultra-wide) than the Google Pixel 7 or Pixel 7 Pro. You’ll also likely enjoy its compact, easy-to-hold size. Otherwise in tech spec land, it has 8GB of RAM and a 6.1-inch 1080p display, pulling a 90Hz adaptive refresh rate. Note that, as our Google Pixel 7a review reminds us, this adaptive 90Hz is turned off by default. However, when in use, it makes the Pixel 7a quite responsive and snappy, but it will drain quite a lot of battery power. To paraphrase our reviewer’s sentiments, at the time of release, the 7a may make the Pixel 7 seem more enticing for just a little more money. This is still the case today, with what kind of work is being done. But if you’re looking for a high-megapixel camera at a low price, the Google Pixel 7a may still be for you.

This means you get unparalleled contrast and color. It also has a 120Hz refresh rate. This helps a lot with demanding tasks like cloud gaming. Even if you don’t care, the high refresh rate helps the touchscreen respond well to your finger. The cameras include a telephoto lens that can do 30x Super Res Zoom. It also has Macro Focus, which can capture amazing close-up details, like the texture on leaves or the spots on a ladybug.
