This company is the source of the controversial data that led to the hydroxychloroquine article published in The Lancet.

The website of the American Society of Surgisphere, the source of medical data that led to the publication of the study criticizing hydroxychloroquine in The Lancet, was suspended this Friday. According to several journalists, the company would also disappear from social networks.

The company is completely mysterious

On May 22, the prestigious medical journal The Lancet published a study on hydroxychloroquine showing that the drug was not beneficial in any way for Covid-19 patients. According to the document, its consumption could even be harmful to patients. Surgisphere would have access to the profile of 96,000 patients, in 671 hospitals worldwide – a huge database, the reliability of which is widely questioned today.

Supposed to have “revolutionized the improvement of the quality and efficiency of healthcare”, the structure, however, is completely anonymous on social networks, as well as in “big data” and “e-health” circles, that is, explained in a lengthy investigation published by The Parisian. Amidst the financials, Surgisphere is, again, a ghost: because it’s not listed, the bulk of the company’s finances remain unknown.
