Battlefield 2042 fixes one of Battlefield 4’s biggest problems

If you’re like me, you’re back Battlefield 4 months ago in anticipation Battlefield 2042. And how could you not? Battlefield 2042The reveal trailer and pretty much everything that follows points to it being a direct sequel — both in terms of story and gameplay — Battlefield 4so it was time to go back to the mechanics of that game and, unfortunately, address the issues.

Battlefield 2042 | Open beta announcement

Awesome helicopters

Battlefield 4 is far from a perfect shooter. It has some overpowered weapons and its netcode is completely broken. All of this pales in comparison to how powerful some of the vehicles in the game can become, especially helicopters. Helicopters in Battlefield 4 would get some incredibly overpowered devices at high ranks, requiring anyone trying to take one out to use more than a few rockets. Those devices paired with the high speed of any helicopter made it nearly impossible to take down thugs on larger maps, where players could peek out from behind buildings, cause damage, and make a quick escape.

IN Battlefield 2042open beta, this doesn’t seem to be a problem yet, and may not be, thanks to a series of solid nerfs that have been applied to the game’s helicopters. Compared with Battlefield 4helicopters in which the players will find themselves 2042 they are almost exactly the same — a powerful attack helicopter and a smaller, more agile reconnaissance helicopter. And their weapons are almost identical, with the difference that the reconnaissance helicopter also has anti-personnel missiles.

But that’s where the similarities begin and end. Helicopters in Battlefield 2042 they are much slower and less agile than they used to be Battlefield 4, especially attack helicopters. Now they’re so clunky and heavy that you fly them like you’re driving a tank with a propeller attached to the top. For players tired of torturing aerial threats, these changes are a godsend. Helicopters cannot fly quickly beyond the target range.

Don’t make the same mistake

Helicopters in Battlefield 2042 they still have flare flares that offer some temporary protection from incoming flares, but are hardly effective against other players who can stun them. Once they’re spent, the chopper is vulnerable to punishment, and since they’re so slow, it’s almost impossible for them to duck out of sight of the missile. Helicopters are no longer impossible to destroy, and their pilots are no longer 82-2 every game. They are finally vulnerable.

All I can do now is hope the helicopters stay like this when Battlefield 2042 launch. Battlefield 4Helicopters were overpowered, no doubt, but what pushed them to that level were the gadgets players could unlock. After leveling up those vehicles, players could drop EMF jammers that would prevent the missiles from locking on for about 10 seconds, along with a self-repair kit that would stabilize the helicopter if it was severely damaged, giving pilots a second chance at life.

For anyone returning to Battlefield 4, or worse, only recently entering the game, this meant that there were players who simply could not be killed once they stepped into the helicopter. Depending on Battlefield 2042approach to vehicle progression, this may not be the case.

Players should absolutely be rewarded for reaching high levels, but should not be given pseudo invincibility on the battlefield. However 2042 plans to reward his players for their time in the helicopter, he can’t endlessly swing the odds in their favor. Vehicle dominance in Battlefield 4 but it shows what happens when that is the case, and it is a mistake that should not be made twice in a row.
