The Southern Health Union announced on Wednesday that it was leaving the Ségur table for health, unhappy with the reversal of this consultation, intended to improve the working conditions of carers and the care of the sick.
“During the crisis, President Macron made a series of promises. But since the start of the discussions, we have seen nothing,” said Jean-Marc Devauchelle, Secretary General of SOUTHERN Health Social. “The government publishes, but then it ends up in Seguro’s pockets. This is unacceptable,” added the union leader, condemning the “lack of consideration” towards the unions.

In a press release, Southern Health specifically criticized the government’s failure to make a cost proposal on benefits during initial meetings with unions.

“As we feared, instead of negotiations, ( … ), we were introduced to the concept of ‘brainstorming’ of the national meeting”, criticized the union, condemning the lack of “funds” and “margin trading”. “Under these conditions, Ségur is an integral part of the problem, not the solution. Stay there, that would support the government’s scheme,” he added, calling for “genuine negotiations.”

Southern Health, the fourth union in the public service-hospital (8.5%), all demand a 300 euro salary increase for all hospital employees, as well as a moratorium on closing hospital beds.
Segur, which was launched with great fanfare by Edouard Philippe on May 25 and led by the former head of the CFDT, Nicole Notat, must run by mid-July, with concrete proposals for the public hospital and carers.

But several unions are already angry at the way the discussions have been conducted, denouncing “false consultation” and a “communications operation”.
