We are at an interesting point for home automation. All those futuristic robots that have been promised to us for decades are finally coming true, and nowhere is this more true than in robotic vacuum technology. But sometimes you need more than an autonomous robot to do your bidding. Sometimes you have to grab the tools and get it done. Enter: Tineco Floor One S5.

What’s different about the Tineco Floor One S5?

Tineco-Floor-ONE-S5 is used to collect grain from the floor.Thineco

Tineco Floor One S5 is a dual-purpose vertical stand that is completely wireless. It’s a stick vacuum and wet/dry mop with some unique features that set it apart from other stick models. Beneath the Tineco S5 is a soft microfiber roller that draws in and cleans dirt and spills.

This vacuum cleaner and mop does it all: it picks up dust, debris and wet dirt while scrubbing the floor surface with its rotating roller.

The S5 comes with a freestanding charging station and docking station. Refreshingly, there’s no connection to an app or smartphone — just plug in and clean.

The S5 has a fairly comfortable adjustable telescoping handle, and the main unit swivels to get into tight spaces.

Using Tineco Floor One S5

The S5 needs its own clean water tank filled with fresh water. The tank seems a little small, but the fact is that this device does not use much water and does not seem to need it.

The Tineco S5 will clean with just water or water and cleaning solution, and you only need about half an ounce to improve cleanliness. When switched on, the current will pull the machine forward with its scrubbing rollers for a deeper clean. During my testing, just one pass cleaned up dirt, including things like muddy dog paw prints.

The rotating brushes underneath the Tineco S5 can deliver spinning strokes across the dried mess.

I tested the Tineco Floor One S5 in a variety of real-life situations at home. I’ve only used it as a vacuum, and when I review a vacuum, I test it on small particles like flour, crumbs like rice or oats, and larger pieces like crackers.

While the vacuum did indeed inhale everything, it created a sticky mess inside the dirty water tank, and the paddle-shaped internal filter fills up quickly. Even so, it did a very good job of keeping the mess out of the water.

As for the floor mopping ability, I was able to test it on muddy paw prints, wet dirt and even spills.

This is where the Tineco S5 really was the winner; unlike some mopping robots that simply sweep a wet mop across your floor, the rotating brushes underneath the Tineco S5 can deliver rotating strokes across dried messes and inhale spilled milk, wine and coffee.

I tested the S5 on tile and hardwood and it did a great job on both without leaving the floors too wet or stained.

In the end, it was pretty impressive how well this wet and dry vacuum and mop worked.

This vacuum cleaner and cloth are self-cleaning

When you’re done cleaning, it’s time to empty the dirty water tank — it’s a surprising barometer of how dirty the floors are, and the deeply dirty water went straight down the drain! The built-in strainer in the dirty water tank is designed for quick and easy hair removal.

When the vacuum cleaner is empty and the dirty water container has been rinsed, return the Floor One S5 to its docking station. The unit can automatically detect dirt and deposits, so a voice can tell you to start a cleaning cycle by pressing the self-cleaning button. Two minutes later all internal parts should be fresh again.

This vacuum cleaner and mop also has impressive self-cleaning capabilities.

Tineco Floor One has sensors

The vacuum cleaner uses something called the iLoop Smart Sensor that detects where the dirt is on the floor. If the LED light on the screen is red, it sees more dirt, so you should make a few more passes. If it’s blue, it’s not so bad. The Tineco S5 will also automatically adjust the flow of water and detergent, giving you more solutions for cleaning bigger messes. During testing I found this to work intermittently. I took the S5 out once to get rid of a dried red wine stain, but the lights didn’t change at all. Despite this, it does its job well when powered from the floor.

In subsequent tests, I would sometimes get some highlights, but it seemed to depend on things like the color of the floor and the light or shadows cast on the floor. The point of this feature is that I don’t think you really need to worry because you can see for yourself when there is dirt or spills on the floor and the Floor One S5 cleans really well on its own. But it’s a nice trick, I guess.

The Tineco Floor One S5’s 2.1-inch LCD displays cleaning information and any alerts, plus remaining battery level, as well as if your water tanks are empty or need to be refilled — useful information at a glance.

Battery life

On a single charge, the Floor One S5 aims to run for around 35 minutes. Since it lives on its charging stand, it’s always been ready for me, so I can’t say how long it takes to fully charge.

Our opinion

Overall, I am very pleased with the performance of this floor cleaner. Removes dried dirt from my tile and wood floors. I like the versatility of the wet-dry performance because it means I don’t have to worry about vacuuming and then wiping.

Bad side’s? It’s not quite as mobile as some of the other stick vacuums and mops I’ve tried, and the internal debris filter is small so it struggles to clean larger, lumpier messes. Despite this, it works very well and we love using it as it provides a good, thorough cleaning of the floors in our home with two pets.

Is there a better alternative?

There are several wet-dry vacuum cleaners and mops on the market. Roborock just released its Dyad which is a similar concept, and Dreame’s H11 Max is also out, as well as several models from Bissell. For the most part, features, price, and availability seem to be on par, so keep an eye out for sales at this point, or look for your most important features and comparison shop. There are a lot of great options out there right now.

How long will it last?

The Tineco Floor One S5 seems quite sturdy and comes with an extra roller. I foresee it being a permanent addition to my home for the foreseeable future.

Should you buy it?

I can definitely recommend the Tineco Floor One S5 for your hard floors. It’s a surprisingly powerful and versatile floor cleaner that makes the job easy.
