London firefighters rescued a husky that had become stranded on a window ledge using dog biscuits and a revolving ladder. According to the London Fire Brigade, firefighters were called to a house where a dog appeared to have climbed out of a window and found itself with nowhere to turn. The dog was seen sitting on a small ledge.
The London Fire Brigade rescued the dog from the window ledge.
“When we got to the house we first called for support from the RSPCA and a dog handler from the city police, but we saw the dog whining and we were worried he was going to fall because the ledge was so narrow and he could. Don’t turn around to get back in.” lead firefighter Dan Poullais said in a press release shared by the London Fire Brigade.
He further added: “Rather than using our standard ladders, we thought the safest option would be to bring our 32-metre swivel ladder to the scene so we could get the dog safely into the ladder cage. Lead firefighter Nick Michael, who loves dogs, climbed the ladder to complete the rescue armed with dog treats given to him by his neighbors. The London Fire Brigade also added that this incident happened when the pet owners were not at home. After returning, the dog was safely returned to them.
A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said in a press release: “Firefighters love animals and we are ready, willing and able to help distressed or injured animals – the last thing we want is for people to put themselves at risk by rescuing an animal themselves – but we encourage people to call the RSPCA first , and we will help if our specialized equipment is needed, as in this case.”
