US teen’s jaw-dropping catch from 469.5 feet earns him a Guinness World Record

An 18-year-old teenager from the United States broke the world record for the ‘biggest catch of a tennis ball’. Cameron Heinig caught the ball from an incredible height of 469.5 feet, breaking the previous record by 75.4 feet.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records (GWR), Heinig’s friend Julian helped him achieve this remarkable feat. Julian piloted the drone to launch the tennis ball from the astonishing height required for the record. The duo practiced for two summers to perfect their technique for this world record. After initial failed attempts, Heinig changed his approach by using a baseball glove. This adjustment allowed him to focus on getting underneath the ball coming down rather than attempting a conventional catch.

After his achievement, Heinig told GWR: “It didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would. Nothing hurt more than a high five.” Heinig had to catch the ball with his bare hands to achieve this world record.

“It’s a great feeling to have the title of Guinness World Record holder. That is certainly my greatest achievement,” added Cameron.

The record-keeping organization shared a video of the world record on Instagram with the caption: “Greatest catch of a tennis ball 143.11 m (469 ft 6.2 in) by Cameron Heinig.”
