Almost a year ago, Between us developer InnerSloth asked an important question. He posted a picture of a crew member with four legs, like a horse, and simply asked “what if?” Today we found out the answer. For the first of April this year, Between us has a Horse Mode which, simply put, turns all crew members in the game into horses.

Players can see what life is like as a cavalry crew member from now until 5:00 PM PT today, April 1st. After that, the temporary update that added Horse Mode to the game will be removed. There is no need to download a new update for the game either; Horse Mode should be present as long as Between us has been updated to the latest version.
With a four-legged appearance for all crew members and decoys, Between us‘April Fool’s Mode’ adds some other visual changes. Crew members can only wear hats and visors, and killing other crew members as a cheat plays a custom “nudge” sound recorded by Gary, one of the game’s developers. Imposters will also have a new kill animation, though a post on Innersloth’s website for the April Fools update calls it “anti-climactic.”
While Horse Mode is active, some visual bugs and glitches may also be present, but these should be fixed once they are removed later today.
While today’s update might be a big old April Fool’s joke, the VR mode shown late last year for Between us it is not. Revealed during the Game Awards 2021. Among Us VR it will support between four to 10 players and be limited to one map, Skeld. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be available on Meta Quest, Valve Index, and on PlayStation with the PS VR headset.
