The book was inspired by the success of Chandrayaan-3, ISRO’s moon mission led by Somanath. Somnath said that this book is for those people who are talented but struggle with self-doubt. Slated for release in November, the book is published by Kerala-based Lipi Publications.

“It’s actually the story of an ordinary village youth who doesn’t even know whether to enroll in engineering or graduate… about his dilemmas, the right decisions he made in life and the opportunities he got in a country like India,” he said. PTI.

The head of ISRO further said that he had no one to guide him in the initial years of his studies, and if a person had not suddenly bought him a ticket to the engineering faculty, he would have enrolled in a graduate or some other course.

“The book is not intended to teach my life story. Its sole intention is to inspire people to chase their dreams while battling adversities in life,” the ISRO chairman added.

When asked why he decided to write the book in Malayalam, Somanath replied, “Because I am a Malayalam and I am more comfortable writing in my mother tongue,” he said with a smile.

The book reveals that decades ago he stayed in a tiny room in Kollam district due to financial crisis while studying at TKM Engineering College. He traveled to college by riding an old bicycle because he could not afford a bus ticket and was forced to skip the study tour.

The autobiography highlights his personal life and unfolds through his journey at ISRO to the launch of Chandrayaan-3.
