Australian woman claims to find frog inside spinach bag, supermarket responds

An Australian woman claims she was left “traumatized” after finding a frog in a box of spinach she bought at Woolworths supermarket. According to reports, Simone Baker took to TikTok to describe the incident. She noticed the frog in the spinach after she had already cooked it in the pan.

“Fresh food people, literally a fresh frog in my spinach. It can’t get much fresher than that. I’ve never been so excited to eat dinner in my life until I saw that,” Baker can be heard saying in the video, reports the New York Post .

After the video was shared on social media, the user pointed out that it appeared that the frog had already been mixed into the dish she was preparing. This implies that Baker may have accidentally mistaken the frog for her food before realizing it. There is no video to suggest that the frog was inside the bag of spinach. According to The Chronicle, Woolworths noticed the incident and responded to it. “Our supplier has carried out numerous quality assessments of this batch of spinach leaves and has not detected any foreign objects during processing, so this appears to be an isolated incident. We work with a large number of Australian spinach growers and take food safety very seriously and have rigorous processes to maintain the quality of our products. For our bags of spinach, this includes washing the leaves and a series of quality checks, such as X-ray checks for foreign materials, before they are packed and sent to our stores,” the company said.

The supermarket went on to add: “We take all customer feedback seriously and understand that this must have been an unwelcome surprise for this customer, especially with online comments about how delicious the meal looked.”
