News about Allen Greene

Ole Miss has beefed up her athletics management with the hiring of Allen Greene, a former athletic director at Auburn and Buffalo, as the new senior vice president of athletics/outside relations and business development, according to a report. The statement was made Wednesday by Intercollegiate Vice-Chancellor Keith Carter.

Greene, Carter’s associate and assistant director of athletic development at the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation from 2009 to 2012, returned to Oxford. In his new position, Greene will manage the division’s external operations, serve as Rebels chief executive officer, and continue to oversee the athletics operations of the football program.

Carter said, “We are extremely excited to have Allen’s leadership join our team. “Looking back at our time together at OMAF, I can attest to what kind of person and leader Allen was. He has all the qualities you want in his administration. His extensive knowledge will benefit our faculty and we are delighted to welcome his family back to Oxford.”

Simply put, our experience at Ole Miss has been fulfilling and Greene expressed excitement at having the opportunity to work with Keith again. “People around me know my preoccupation with wanting others to succeed and I look forward to working with Prime Minister Boyce, university administrators, sports staff/coachs, students. athletes and fans!”

Before resigning in August, Greene served as Auburn’s 15th athletics director for five seasons. They see him as a dynamic and vivacious leader. Eight congress titles and 44 national top 25 program finishes, including 17 teams in the top 10, were achieved by the Tigers during his coaching tenure. The men’s and women’s golf teams have reached the national semifinals three times, and the AU equestrian program has won two national titles.

Six Auburn teams make it into the top 10 for the 2021-22 season, with the gymnastics team’s fourth place being their best ever. Men’s basketball earned their first national No. 1 ranking before finishing at 9th, and the Tiger baseball team entered the College World Series for the second time in the last three seasons.

The $92 million, 233,000 square foot soccer performance center was built during Greene’s time at Auburn, as part of a $175 million investment in basic infrastructure. The new building, the largest capital structure in Auburn Athletics history, includes two of the four largest single donations in program history.
