Crossbow Peacekeeper

In a non-weapon game, the PK crossbow is one of the best weapons Dying Light 2, if not the best. The amount of damage PK Crossbow takes scales with Aiden’s level, as far as we can tell. Ours (Aiden level six) deals 254 base damage. Paired with impact bolts, we fire a single shot at every normal enemy we encounter. We don’t even carry a full ranger set!
To unlock the PK crossbow in the Dying Light 2, you must assign at least four territories to the Peacemakers. Assigning territories to PKs gives Aiden access to more traps and means of killing zombies, where the Survivors make more parkour attachments. During our playthrough, we felt that the PK perks sounded better. Trust us; they do not disappoint. Unfortunately, if you’ve gone all Survivor, you’ve missed your chance to swing one of the best weapons in the Dying Light 2.
You will need to craft the bolts for the crossbow, and upon unlocking you will be given a few basic blueprints. We have fun with impact bolts (game intent), but poison, laceration, and stun have their advantages. Bolts require scraps and feathers to craft, and each elemental bolt costs an additional unique item. For example, impact bolts need 10 scraps, one quill, and three weights.
To equip different bolts, hold right on D-pad to raise the weapon wheel. Use L1 and R1 to cycle through your available ammo with crossbow in hand.
One thing to keep in mind is how Dying Light 2 a strong aim aid affects your ranged weapon. Your turn speed will slow down dramatically when you’re near an enemy, whether you’re holding a PK crossbow or any regular bow. Aim assist is great when you’re trying to hit them, but if you’re trying to pass, it can do more harm than good. For this reason, don’t run around with ranged weapons. Instead, switch to it whenever you want to record. This strategy also helps conserve ammo, as you won’t be inclined to shoot every zombie you see. Instead, just throw them out.
Paper clip bow

Keeping a decent ranged weapon near Aiden at all times is a viable strategy. Although the Paperclip Bow is rare, it still deals enough damage to make it one of the best weapons in the Dying Light 2. It’s useful for taking out howlers when you’re exploring at night and can finish off boss enemies if Aiden is low on health. If you went the Survivor route when assigning territories, the paperclip bow is a decent replacement for the PK crossbow.
You will find the Paperclip Bow during the main story while exploring Lawan’s apartment. Specifically, you’ll find it during the mission called “The Shoe”. Arrows are fairly easy to make, requiring only scraps and feathers. While you won’t be running around Villedor like Hawkeye, the paperclip bow plays a significant role in any zombie slayer’s arsenal.
Weapons for the environment

With all the weapons Aiden can carry and equip, his environment is one of the best weapons around Dying Light 2. Spears, spike traps, explosive gas cans, car bombs and gravity are perfect for killing everything in the game. Keep an eye out for any of these environmental hazards as they’re a great way to take on a group of enemies without breaking one of your favorite weapons.
Spears
You will find spears stuck in dead bodies all over Villedor. In most cases, green biomarkers mark their locations. Aiden can grab any spear he can get his hands on, but is not forced to throw it immediately. In fact, you can keep a spear as your primary weapon while parking around town. However, if you switch to another weapon or loot an item, you will drop the spear. Dying Light 2 it has a pretty friendly aiming/locking assist mechanic, so don’t worry about a perfect throw. We recommend using the spear to take down regular enemies so you can focus more on the bigger ones.
You’ll also find spears all over the battlefield as you battle the GRE anomalies. Since you’re fighting at night, keep an eye out for bright green biomarkers that highlight their location. Spears do not respawn, so we recommend throwing them at the mini-boss instead of smaller enemies. Again, it’s a great way to preserve weapon durability.
Finally, Apostates with spears will drop their weapons when killed. You can pick up those spears to target other enemies. However, you cannot pick them up again.
Spike traps
Like the first game, Dying Light 2 is riddled with spike traps. While they don’t damage Aiden, they will instantly kill any enemy that just brushes him. However, Aiden must play a role in them touching the spike trap. I can’t just wander into it at will. That’s why combat skills like grappling and falling are so valuable, as Aiden can keep throwing zombies and human enemies alike into spiked traps for easy kills. You can also use the kick by blocking and pressing the right trigger.
When we say insta-kill, we mean insta-kill. Even Renegade lieutenants and leaders die instantly if you throw them into a spike trap. Why break two or three weapons and burn health packs when you can easily throw them into a barrel full of sharp spikes?
Exploding propane tanks
Villedor must have been a big fan of barbecuing before autumn. The city is supplied with full propane tanks. You’ll find these red cans everywhere, especially in the backs of delivery trucks near military convoys full of zombies. You can shoot the can with a ranged weapon to blow it up. Alternatively, you can take the tank and hold the Square button to fire it yourself. Anyway, it explodes after a few seconds, giving Aiden enough time to escape.
The “hiss”, if you will, acts as an audible signal. If you can learn when tanks explode, you can throw them like cooked grenades. This is useful when throwing explosive tanks at human enemies. They are smart enough to run away when you throw the can.
Returning to Villedor are the fan-favorite “gas tank zombies” from the original Dying light. Since there are no cannons, it is difficult to shoot tanks on their backs from a distance. Throwing knives and arrows still works though. Aiden can run up behind them and start the countdown with his melee weapon if all else fails.
Be careful when playing with these cans though. The explosion attracts viral zombies (the fast ones that don’t like the sun). However, they are a good source of uncommon infected trophies if you are looking to upgrade your farm.
Car traps
At PK level one, you’ll unlock car traps. These traps activate the car alarm and sound to attract nearby zombies. They then explode, killing everyone nearby. If you’re in the middle of a night chase, car traps are a great way to get zombies off your back as you make your way to the UV zone. Otherwise, they’re a fun way to rack up kills.
You will only find car traps inside the PK territory, and they are few and far between. The game, however, prompts you to activate it when you’re nearby.
Gravity
Gravity is Aiden’s best friend Dying Light 2. Whenever you find enemies on the roof, your first desire would be to kick them. While you can’t loot their bodies (unless you go down and find them), gravity is one of the best ways to preserve weapon durability in Dying Light 2.
Aiden’s feet

Of all the axes, crossbows, spears, spike traps, and exploding cars, Aiden’s feet are the best weapon in Dying Light 2. In particular, the combat skills Air Kick, Dropkick and Head Stomp are what make Aiden a deadly killing machine, even if all his weapons are broken (if only he could find a pair of football boots lying around).
