You may have an entire open world to explore, but the challenges that are hidden, or even placed directly in your path, are just as brutal as in the famous developer’s previous games.
One tool that has always been included to make the challenge a little easier and encourage more collaboration among the community is the ability to play with your friends. Elden Ring once again offers co-op and competitive multiplayer, but like previous games, how to access them is a bit unclear. If you’re new to this Souls-style game, you can easily miss the whole process of playing with friends entirely. To make sure you’re never without a sign of a friendly call or an opportunity to invade an unsuspecting opponent, here’s a full breakdown of how to play Elden Ring with friends.
How to turn on multiplayer
Before we get into the details, we need to make sure your settings are correct even for playing with friends. By default Elden Ring will go through these settings before you get started, but just in case, here’s what you need to do to make sure you’re open to online gaming in the first place.
Step 1: Open your options and go to System.
Step 2: Entrance Meshsee for yourself Launch settings it is set to Play online.
Step 3: You can also press Triangle, or Yto reset all these settings to their defaults, which will ensure you’re open to playing online.

Get multiplayer items

How to play with friends
There are two ways to play with friends Elden Ring, but one is much easier than the other. The harder way is to simply use one of the aforementioned co-op items and hope your friend finds and activates it first. The second, detailed here, can guarantee a quick and easy connection for you and your friend. Here’s how to do it.
Step 1: Open Possibilities Menu.
Step 2: Enter the System and then Mesh.
Step 3: Change it Display player name possibility for Online ID.
Step 4: Go to More players Menu.
Step 5: Choose a multiplayer password that you and your friend know.
Step 6: In the game, go to the same region as your co-op partner.
Step 7: Use Tarnished’s Furled Finger to create a cooperative call sign in that region’s pool.
Step 8: Have your friend choose your call sign from the pool. No one else will be able to access without the password.
Step 9: Wait for your friend to appear in your world and team up against the challenges ahead.
This method will also work if you want to fight your friends, just replace the step of using the Tarnished’s Furled Finger item with the Duelist’s Furled Finger item.
