Australian woman runs onto tarmac, stops flight from flying without her

An Australian woman was arrested after she ran onto the runway to prevent a flight from taking off without her. According to reports, the incident took place at Canberra Airport. The woman dashed past airport security, onto the runway and under the plane, waving to the captain to let her onto the QantasLink flight to Adelaide. A video of the woman was also shared on social networks. Since its publication, it has attracted the attention of many.

A spokesman for the Australian Federal Police said the woman had been refused bail and was due to appear in court on November 3, the BBC reported.

“A woman who apparently missed her flight tried to catch him by running after a QantasLink Embraer E190AR (VH-XVO) plane on the runway. The strange incident was filmed at Canberra Airport (CBR) on November 1, 2023. During the chase, the woman started waving at the pilot. She was denied bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday,” FL360aero wrote on Facebook. They also shared a video of the incident.

The video shows a woman walking under the plane and asking the pilot to stop the flight.
