The car’s owner, Xu, discovered a “slight scratch” on her vehicle, and since it was “not too serious”, she did not pay attention to it, reports the South China Morning Post (SCMP). However, as she was driving out of her community, she received a message from a security guard along with a 50 yuan note.
“Apology Letter: Yesterday I scratched your car with a wooden stick and I felt extremely guilty. I only have 50 yuan at the moment. How much will it cost to fix your car? Can I pay in installments? I’m sorry,” the boy wrote in the message.
At first Xu found the whole incident funny. “Later, I felt that the child was very brave, ready to take responsibility for his mistake and proactively seek a cure. He also wrote in the letter that if 50 yuan is not enough, he can pay in installments, which made me think he is a very smart kid,” Xu told the newspaper.
Later, Xu also introduced the child to her husband. They told him that they accepted his apology because he wrote the letter very seriously. “We later told him that he could get 50 yuan as a reward because he behaved so well and was willing to take responsibility for his actions,” Xu added.
