Instagram user Tessa Coates shared a picture of herself trying on a wedding dress and facing a mirror. At first glance, you may not notice anything unusual. However, if you look closely, you will notice that the bride’s hands in the mirror are completely different from her actual position. Coates also insists that this photo was not photoshopped or taken in a panoramic view that could distort the image. (Also read: ‘Matrix glitch’: Men who look alike confuse the internet)

In the caption of the post, Coates explained: “I went wedding dress shopping and the fabric of reality fell apart. This is a real photo, not photoshopped, not a billboard, not a live photo. If you don’t see the problem, please keep looking and you won’t be able to not see. Please enjoy this matrix error/photo I almost threw up on the street. Also, I’m engaged!”

This post was shared two days ago. Since it was posted, it has gone viral with over 2,300 likes. The share also has numerous comments.

Here’s what people are saying about this matrix moment glitch:

The individual wrote: “No way. This can’t be real.”

Another commented: “Still blinking my eyes.”

“It’s very simple. When taking any photo with a modern cell phone, especially in low light, you need to scan from left to right. Any movement will be captured even if it’s not a pan because the mirrors are statically positioned, but the subject is moving,” posted a third.

A fourth said, “What happens in the black mirror.”

“Oh my God, I’m terrified,” added a fifth.

Although this image freaked Coates out, she went to an Apple store to discover the truth behind the image. Employees at the Apple Store clarified that phones are computers, not cameras. The iPhone therefore takes a series of images from left to right even when the Live Photo setting is disabled. He explained that the different hand positions in the photo were the result of Coates raising her arm to her waist during the photo shoot.
