Morskie Mile, a sailing school in Warsaw, Poland, which operated the boat, took to Facebook to share information about the incident. They wrote: “Yesterday in the Straits of Gibraltar in the early afternoon our yacht was attacked by a herd of orex. They hit the rudder fin for 45 minutes, causing extensive damage and leaking. Despite attempts to bring the yacht to port by the Captain, Crew and SAR rescuers, harbor tugs and the Moroccan Navy, the unit was sunk near the entrance to the port of Tangier Med. The crew is safe, unharmed and well and is already in Spain.” (Also Read: Bloodthirsty Orcas Brutally Attack Cetaceans. Watch Rare Video)

The site went on to share, “This yacht was the most beautiful thing in sea sailing for all of us. Long-term friendships were formed on board. On this yacht we sailed around the most beautiful places in Europe and the Atlantic archipelagos, trained numerous sea stewards, discovered the beautiful and the unknown, tasted Mediterranean specialties and sailed, sailed, sailed. Very nice memories will remain in Grazie Mamma II. Love for the sea always wins, and friendships remain with us.”
