Dog in UK helps rescue a cat trapped 30-metre deep in mineshaft

A dog in the UK has been hailed as a hero after playing a key role in saving a cat that became stranded in a mine shaft. The dog, while out for a walk, kept returning to a certain place. When the owner of the dog followed her, she heard meowing from the mine shaft. The rescue operation soon began, and the cat stuck 30 meters deep in the mine shaft was brought back to safety. The touching story was shared by Calweton Veterinary Group, where the cat was taken after the rescue.

“Meet Mowgli who just used up one of his nine lives! After being missing for six days, Mowgli’s owners became very worried about him. Yesterday, while she was out for a walk, the family spaniel Daisie kept running to a certain spot. The owner decided to follow Daisie and heard meowing from the mine shaft. Poor Mowgli is stuck!” reads part of the caption shared on Facebook by Calweton Veterinary Group. They also shared several photos.

The site further reported that the cat was rescued and taken to a veterinarian for a health checkup. “This morning the Rspca Cornwall Branch and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service went on a mine shaft rescue mission. Incredibly, Mowgli fell 30 meters down. Eight firemen used ropes to descend the mine shaft and place Mowgli in the cat basket. It is then safely lifted back to ground level. They brought him straight to us for a thorough checkup. Amazingly, Mowgli was completely unharmed and extremely happy to be back with his owner! What a happy cat! And what a smart dog Daisie is!”
