Harry and Sally take part in a cross-country drive from Chicago to New York. During the drive, they talk about relationships and whether men and women can be platonic friends. Over the next 12 years, Harry and Sally meet through a series of chance encounters and continue to discuss friendships and relationships during these encounters. Although they try to remain friends, their mutual attraction begins to complicate their relationship, culminating in a New Year’s party that will tear you apart.
