How to temporarily archive a book
This option allows you to remove a book from your Kindle or the Kindle app. Technically, you still purchased and own the rights to read this book, which means it will remain tied to your Amazon account, and you can download it again later if you want. However, it won’t take up more space on your device. This can be especially useful if your Kindle is running out of storage space and you want to speed it up while making room for new purchases.
Step 1: Get to the book in question — you can’t actually read the book for this to work. If you want to delete a recent book, go to yours Home screen. Otherwise, head to yours Library or Search box find the title(s) you want to get rid of.
Step 2: When you view the title in question, press and hold the name for a few seconds until a box with a list of options appears. Note: This only works on Kindle devices with a touch screen. If you have a Kindle with directional controls — that is, most models before the Kindle Paperwhite — press Left direction while the title is highlighted to display the aforementioned list of options.
Step 3: Within the resulting list of options, you should see an option for Remove from device, or something to that effect. The exact term will depend on your Kindle model, as well as the content at hand. After finding, select that option and confirm your decision. You’ll be able to download the title again wirelessly if you’ve made a mistake, but you’ll need an internet connection and your Amazon login credentials to do so.
Removing books from the Kindle app
In the Kindle app, just long press the book you want to remove, then click the three dots in the top right corner of the screen and select Remove download from the menu that appears. This will simply remove the book from your device — but you can download it again at any time. You can see all your downloaded books under Downloaded tab at the top of the screen.
How to permanently delete a book

As you might have guessed, Amazon also allows you to permanently delete a book from your account. This can be useful if you have documents and textbooks on your Kindle that you really don’t need anymore. However, please note: If you delete a book using this method, it will be deleted from your account. If you want it back, you’ll have to buy it again.
Step 1: Sign in to your Amazon account as usual. After that go to the section that says Manage your content and devices — this link can take you directly there. Here you can see all the titles that have been purchased from your Amazon account and are available on your Kindle, along with information about the type of download and when they were downloaded.

Step 2: Then find the content you want to delete. You can change the types of titles that are displayed and the order in which they are displayed via Show menu or you can search for something specific. Permanently delete books from the Kindle app
It’s much easier to permanently delete books from your Amazon account on your computer, but you can also do it from the Kindle app. Just tap on the book you want to remove, then click Three dots in the upper right corner of the screen and select Permanent deletion from the menu that appears. The app will ask you if you are sure, so just tap Yes, Delete to go forward, or Cancel if you made a mistake. Note that if you permanently delete a book, you will need to purchase it again if you want it back.
