Dan Bourchier’s career

In 2012, Bourchier began working as a Darwin correspondent for Sky News before eventually becoming the Director of the Northern Territory Office. He also established Australia’s first news office for Sky News and National Indigenous Television in Darwin. Later on, he replaced outgoing reporter David Lipson as the political correspondent based in Canberra while still serving as a correspondent on indigenous affairs. Bourchier has worked previously for NT News and NITV.

He left Sky News on 18 November 2016 to become a host of morning radio and television news at ABC in Canberra. In 2013, he won “report of the year” during the NT Media Awards for his reporting on the NT leadership crisis. In addition, Bourchier was part of the Sky News team that won the Walkley Award for best coverage of a major news event in 2016, specifically for their comprehensive coverage of the 2016 election campaign wherein he spent most of his time travelling across Australia to report every move made by both the prime minister and opposition leader. Aside from being an accomplished MC who hosts corporate and charity events nationwide, he is also presented by Children’s Charity Variety.

News about Dan Bourchier

According to sources, it has been reported that Dan Bourchier, a well-known television broadcaster, will be leaving his position due to some changes in the ABC station lineup. The announcement was made during the Thursday evening news program. Mr. Bourchier became the host of ABC Radio Canberra’s Breakfast programme and took over from veteran newsreader Virginia Haussegger in 2017. He shared the role of reading the news on television with Craig Allan, Narda Gilmour and Adrienne Francis.

In 2020, Bourchier requested changes in the way ABC was managed and the stated duties which led to the abolition of the combined television and morning broadcaster position. It was widely interpreted as an admission that ABC’s attempt to merge the two most important positions had failed.

ABC’s Breakfast program has been led by Ross Solly and Philip Clarke for more than ten consecutive years at the top of the radio charts. However, over recent years, competition from sister stations 104.7 and Mix 106.3 FM has significantly reduced ABC Breakfast’s dominance. Despite this challenge, ABC’s Country Breakfast came in third in the Canberra market ahead of local programming in the final ratings for 2022.

In addition to Mr. Bourchier’s departure, there have been several notable personalities that have left their positions recently including Chris Minns, Danika Mason, George Mladenov, Roxane Bruneau and Raymond Boulanger as documented on Wikipedia.
