Clarence Thomas was born on June 23, 1948 and is now 74 years old in 2023. He was born and raised in Pin Point, Georgia into a devout Catholic middle-class family. He is of American descent and is Catholic. Clarence completed her elementary and secondary education at St. Pius X, and later at Saint John Vianney Minor Seminary on Hope Island.
Clarence announced that he left the seminary after the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. He overheard another student say after the shooting, “Okay, I hope the son of a bitch dies,” and he doesn’t think the church has done enough to combat racism. He later studied at Conception Seminary College in Missouri. At the nun’s suggestion, he enrolled as a sophomore transfer student at Worcester, Massachusetts’ College of the Holy Cross.
While a student there, he was instrumental in founding the Black Student Union. When some black students were punished for breaking school rules, he and the other students left the class to protest the inequality. A group of priests allowed black students to return to school. While in college, he participated in anti-war protests and witnessed the 1970 Harvard Square riots firsthand. This is attributed to his disillusionment with the communist cause. and then turned to conservatism.
