Don Newkirk A Musician Passed Away At The Age Of 56

Don Newkirk, the American musician best known for his songs De La Soul and 3rd Bass, has died at the age of 56. On November 26, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five hip-hop musician Rahiem announced the His death on his Facebook page:

“My sincerest condolences to the family of my brother Don Newkirk on his passing. Don Newkirk was one of the first R&B musicians to sign with Defjam. You can rest in peace.”

Rahiem explained to AllHipHop how he knew about Don Newkirk’s death.

“One of our close friends called me and told me that Don’s daughter had called to tell him.”

Newkirk is known for De La Soul’s 1989 debut 3 Feet High and Rising and 3rd Bass’, The Cactus Album, where he sang The Gas Face.
