A statement from a Dudley Zoo spokesman read: “We have some news to share with our male giraffe, Kubwa, who tragically passed away yesterday. After consulting with the zoo’s veterinary team, the decision was made to let the 22-year-old die as his health deteriorated following treatment for a long-term condition. He has been at DZC for 13 years and is one of the oldest male giraffes in the British zoo’s collection. This is why everyone at DZC is grieving the passing of one of the site’s greatest figures.
