Billy’s original dream was to play in the NFL, and while his dream has come true, he still can’t give up on his glory days. He rose to prominence after his glory days when he moved from Beverly High to coach South Crenshaw High to save the school’s football program. He helps inspire the entire team, as he did with Spencer James (Daniel Ezra), and even creates a literacy program.
Billy will return as Baker’s coach all Americans After a short stint as Principal Baker. He fought to become principal at South Crenshaw High School, but quit when another coaching job popped up. Initially, he took on the position of interim principal while the board searched for a full-time replacement. However, Billy was inspired to change from Coach Baker to Principal Baker after Preach compared coaches and principals. Because of the way he motivates players, it makes sense for his character to take on that role.
Billy Baker mistakenly believed that taking the GAU job meant his son’s team would be saved. The NCAA is investigating Coach Garrett (Sean Carrigan), and while they’ve found no other coach’s accomplice, Billy says he’s the next coach. Now, Garrett wants to sabotage the program. AD Barnes (Morris Chestnut) knew what was going on, the former coach told the NCAA. Barnes denies this, but may have known to some extent. Until the NCAA approves Barnes, the program’s future remains uncertain.

Billy originally came to AD Barnes to represent Spencer for coach Kenny (Mustafa Speaks). Little did he know that Barnes would give him the job. While Billy is excited about the chance to return to the sport he loves, he knows it can upset Spencer. Spencer came to the GAU because of Coach Kenny. In college, Kenny was like Billy in high school. That’s why Billy delayed telling him, but Jordan says it’s time to tell him because he can’t lie anymore.
Unfortunately, Barnes thought Billy was going to tell Spencer and tell him that Billy took the job. The look on his face showed that he was just as sad as Jordan expected. So while Billy thinks it’s a good thing to retrain Spencer, in the process, he’s betrayed Spencer, and Spencer won’t forgive easily.
Billy Accepts Coaching Job That Means Jordan Won’t Move
Now that Billy has taken over the GAU’s coaching duties, his son Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) will not transfer. That could affect his son’s chances of playing next season. He is ready to be QB1 at his new school. He’s found a place that seems right for him, and it’s possible a coach has inspired him as his father inspired Spencer. While it would be nice for Jordan to stay, it could mean he’s lost his chance to be QB1. If Billy hadn’t been the first coach, nothing would have stopped Jordan from moving.
Principal Billy is great, it’s really not his dream job
Principal Billy is a great character arc for Billy Baker. It shows how much his character has matured over the past four seasons. He is looking for his place. He finds that his coaching skills can help him succeed in key roles. Unfortunately, the writers let him jump jobs as soon as the coaching job came along, which took away all of his personality development. Grace James (Karima Westbrook) is not wrong to criticize what Billy has done. He’s selfish, although it seems like he’s given up on his glory days, he hasn’t.
Team 1’s coaching job wasn’t what he thought would be his dream job. His dream is to lead a D1 school with his son and Spencer, but it’s a dangerous football program. While he liked the idea of backing up the show, he didn’t realize that the fallout wasn’t over yet. This is not a high school coaching job. It’s an NCAA Division I school, so things aren’t covered up. It will fully investigate Barnes to make sure he’s not complicit. Their findings will determine the future of the project all Americans.
