Leslie Phillips, famous actor, voice artist and novelist, died on November 7, 2022 at the age of 98. Phillips is best known for his role as the Sorting Hat in the Harry Potter films.

Zara Carr, his wife, released a statement saying:

“I’ve lost a beautiful wife, and the world has lost a truly extraordinary artist.” He is definitely a national treasure. Everyone admires him. Wherever he went, he was busy. When we got married, he jokingly introduced me to the press as royalty, claiming I was the new Zara Phillips and related to the Queen.”

Leslie Phillips passed away on Monday after a long illness. However, he was not hospitalized at the time of his death. According to his agent, Jonathan Lloyd, Phillips died quietly in his sleep. At the age of 90, he suffered two strokes within six months. When he had his first stroke at home in Maida Vale, his wife Zara sought medical attention. In an interview with The Sunday Mirror at the time, Leslie stated:

“I’m too young to leave.” “I have everything I live for.”

According to reports, Leslie turned blue-black after suffering another stroke. Zara is fully aware of Leslie’s health problems, especially his skin cancer, and is afraid to postpone their honeymoon. In 2013, they got married on Christmas Day. When asked about postponing the honeymoon, Leslie later told The Sunday Mirror he had undergone surgery for a non-cancerous tumor on his face. He said it should be removed and continued:

“Thank God, it’s not cancer.” It looks really bad right now, but I’m working on it. We’ve been to all the appointments, and the next one will be in a few weeks.”
