It didn’t take Jailton Almeida very long to win the first UFC big event of his career. Almeida (19-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC) faced Jairzinho Rozenstruik in the main event of UFC on ABC 4 at Spectrum Centre in Charlotte, North Carolina, in a heavyweight contest. Although Almeida’s first fight was slated to last 25 minutes, in another commanding performance, he had Rozenstruik (13-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) submitted in just 3:43.
Almeida immediately attempted a takedown when the gloves were touched, but Rozenstruik easily thwarted the move. Nevertheless, “Bigi Boy” was unable to block Almeida’s second shot, which was fired a short while afterwards.
Rozenstruik tried just two important strikes, according to UFC Stats, and failed with both of them. Interestingly, in his five UFC fights, Almeida has only taken two significant strikes in total, finishing each opponent in the process.
As a result, Almeida’s current victory streak in his professional career—which started in 2018—now stands at 14. Almeida announced a second “challenge” after the fight and suggested Tai Tuivasa as a potential opponent.
Following his effort of the Night effort against Chris Daukaus at UFC 282, where he brutally terminated the fight in only 23 seconds, Rozenstruik entered the match. Unfortunately for “Bigi Boy,” he was unable to withstand Almeida’s stifling ground game and lose the match.
