The Louisiana-based chicken company has now appointed Tom Crowley as its UK chief operating officer. Having worked in pubs, eateries and the QSR industry, Crowley has over 20 years of professional experience in the UK food industry.
Crowley was most recently the CEO of Giraffe Concepts and the CEO of Boparan Restaurant Group, the UK’s main franchisor for Slim Chickens, a popular American chicken brand.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring the iconic Popeyes brand to the thriving UK market. I think our really innovative service, based on a real Louisiana culture, will really impress UK visitors,” added Crowley.
“The hospitality sector has had a really tough year, so I am delighted that Popeyes can help the sector recover with our ambitious plans for the UK. I’m pretty optimistic about what we can do in the next ten years and beyond that Popeyes is a unique brand.
At the end of 2021, the first Popeyes restaurant will open in the UK, becoming the brand’s 11th country in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), which already has more than 350 Popeyes restaurants. Popeyes was founded in 1972 in New Orleans, Louisiana and currently has 3,400 locations in 29 countries.
