Steve Fletcher is an expert on BBC One’s prestigious restoration program The Repair Shop. Along with his sister Suzie Fletcher, The Repair Shop host Jay Blades, Will Kirk, Dominic Chine, Brenton West and Kirsten Ramsay, he made his debut on the show in 2017. He explained to The BBC on how Steve ended up with the Repair Shop is as follows:
“In 2016, a company I had never heard of emailed me asking if I wanted to join a brand new program. I was about to delete it because I didn’t trust anything I found on the internet, but my partner Mel stopped me and said everything was fine.
“I replied, and soon after, Shane called me to tell me about the show. Then I decided to join.
Initially, I worked for two weeks, but after proving that I could fix most minor mechanical problems, I was asked to work longer and eventually joined the core team.
When asked what he enjoyed most about working at the Repair Shop, Steve replied, “There are so many great things about working at the Repair Shop. We all get along very well and really enjoy working together. We never know exactly what to expect or how difficult the repair challenge can be.
“I learned a lot of knowledge from other experts who were always willing to share it with me.
The best part about working in service is observing people’s reactions to their altered items, which vary from excitement to genuine, intense emotions.
