Jerry Springer met his wife Mickie Velten or Margaret “Micki” Velten Springer on a blind date when she asked a coworker to set her up so she could go to the movies with her sister and brother-in-law. A friend named Jerry Springer.

“She didn’t run, I did,” the newspaper quoted Jerry Springer as saying. The article quoted Micki Springer as saying: “I’m campaigning with him. In the summer, I went to all the festivals. I see myself in a situation where I could speak to small groups, but large groups terrify me.” The article says that she doesn’t like to speak in public.
However, Jerry’s personal and professional life fell apart in 1974 when it was discovered that he had hired prostitutes on more than one occasion. “I realized that I couldn’t live my life with that hanging over my head, so I told my wife and my family, and then I told her family,” he told PEOPLE.
In 1976, Micki and Jerry had their only daughter, Katie. She was born legally blind, deaf in one ear, and without any nostrils.
“It’s the end of a sad story,” Springer told PEOPLE in 1994. “The happy story is that she’s a brilliant, extraordinary girl who really overcame a lot.” “She’s such a ham,” he added of Katie. “She probably got it from me.”
However, they divorced in 1994. She was his only wife because he never remarried. “My heart wasn’t in it anymore,” she told PEOPLE at the time.

Lydia passed away at the age of 76 in January 2020.
